Welcome to the Fuck3ry of Grief

In our first episode, we introduce who we are, our lifelong friendship, and how we became widows just 11 months apart. We talk honestly about the language of grief, the pressure to be strong, the things no one warns you about, and why “moving on” does not describe what we are trying to do. Welcome to the Fuckery: Why We Needed Stay-at-Home Widow

Host/Producer

Sharmane Fury is a two-time Golden Crane Award-winning podcaster, storyteller, public speaker, and cultural commentator with more than eight years of experience creating conversations around identity, culture, belonging, and the realities people are often expected to navigate quietly.

She is best known as the creator and longtime host of *Militantly Mixed*, an award-winning podcast centering Mixed-Race, multiracial, and transracially adopted voices. Her work has also included podcasts exploring pop culture, fandom, travel, and storytelling.

Following the sudden and unexpected death of her husband, Tristan, Sharmane found herself learning how to build a life inside circumstances she never chose. That experience became part of the foundation for *Stay-at-Home Widow*, which she co-hosts with her lifelong friend LaVonna.

On the show, Sharmane brings the same candor, humor, curiosity, and willingness to have uncomfortable conversations that have shaped her work throughout her podcasting career. *Stay-at-Home Widow* creates space for honest conversations about widowhood, identity, loneliness, friendship, anger, laughter, rebuilding, and the everyday fuckery of grief, particularly through the experiences of Black and Brown women.

Sharmane does not approach grief as something to overcome or “move on” from. Instead, her work explores what it means to keep living, changing, laughing, creating, and figuring out who you are after the life you expected is no longer available to you.
